The Institute of Thermal Engineering of Graz University of Technology (TUGraz) is part of the faculty of mechanical engineering and employs 19 scientific researchers (thereof 11 third party financed) and 10 non scientific persons.
Main topics: Biomass (gasification, drying, CHP); thermal electricity generation (heat and CHP plants); heat pumps and cooling plants (new refrigerants, ground coupled systems); solar thermal applications; thermal building analysis, low energy buildings.
Research is performed as theoretical (computer simulation) and experimental work. The topics range from the theoretical studies to component development and from technology to environmental effects.
Research: modelling, optimization and environmental analysis of thermal engineering systems in the sectors energy conversion, energy utilisation and energy service.
