CSEM is an applied research and development company involved in the design and development of micro- and miniaturized systems for industry, small volume production and the creation of business based upon cutting edge technological innovation. It has 370 employees (engineers & scientists) on five sites (Neuchâtel, Zurich, Basel, Landquart & Alpnach in Switzerland). CSEM, which is partly supported for specific activities by the Swiss government on a regular as well as project basis, is a shareholder company with retained profits. Operating profits are reinvested in advanced applied research activities.
CSEM brings its experience in wireless and real-time networking technology. CSEM is well known for development and activities in the field of WSN. CSEM brings experience in the research design and development of low power WSN exploiting its advanced low power technologies and expertise to provide new integrated solutions to industrial and institutional customers. CSEM also brings its experience RF, prototyping and WP leadership of European projects.
CSEM is currently participating in several European projects in the domain of key Infrastructure monitoring where data management is vital: MOBESENS (Wireless Sensor Network and mobility for water monitoring), SCIER (Wireless Sensor Network and computing infrastructure for environmental risks), WASP (WSN), eSENSE (WSM), MAGNET (personal networks, UWB), MIMOSA (micro-systems), MyHeart and MARTINA (Bulk Acoustic Wave). Previously, CSEM participated in INFOGATE (networks), SLATS (software reconfigurable radio for mobile communication systems), CAPANINA (antennas), TRUST and SCOUT (Software Defined Radio), STRIKE (MIMO antennas), PACWOMAN (WPAN and UWB) and U-RSAFE (medical tele-monitoring and UWB). CSEM is one of the founding members of the HERMES Partnership, a network of leading European R&D organizations. CSEM was also involved in the NEUROBAT project, which dealt with energy savings and comfort, by using advanced sensing and controls in the building and heating system. Numerous industrial products, providing value for their users in a wide spectrum of applications are now in the market. Other technical areas in which CSEM is active include:
-
Design, development and manufacturing of microstructures made on Silicon (micro-sensors, micro-actuators, micro-structures, etc.).
- Design of very low power integrated circuits;
- Design and development of specific solutions for micro-optics, micro-imagers and biosensors;
- System engineering.
