D2.1: Integrated Thermal Simulation Models for the Three Buildings

The following report is organized in three main sections, one for each building (FIBP Kassel, RWTH Aachen and TUC Chania). All three sections are basically structured in the same way: First, a short description of the building is given whereas detailed information about the buildings are not included in this report but can be found in the PEBBLE building database. Subsequently, the setup of the building and system model is described in detail. Here it is to mention that the three buildings are modeled in different simulation environments (Trnsys for FIBP Kassel, Dymola for RWTH Aachen and Energy Plus for TUC Chania) which require different presumptions and inputs. The issues that affect the thermal behavior of the buildings are:

  • climate data
  • geometry of the building and wall/window construction
  • shading
  • ventilation and infiltration (both through the building envelope and, if existent, by the HVAC system)
  • internal gains from persons and equipment (computers, lighting)

The simulation runs have been performed with different presumptions in several scenarios. Finally the simulation results are shown and discussed. The appendix of each main section contains additional information and result graphs.
